Privacy policy

The short version

This site does not ask you to make an account, and the tools on it do not send what you type anywhere. What is collected is the ordinary stuff any site collects — server logs, analytics, advertising cookies — plus your email address if you choose to hand it over.

The tools

The build calculator, FPS estimator, parts comparison, game checker and quiz run entirely in your browser. The parts you select, the games you pick and your quiz answers are never transmitted to this site or stored on its server. Close the tab and they are gone.

What is collected

• Server logs. The host records IP address, browser, referring page and time of request, as every web server does. These are used to keep the site running and to spot abuse.
• Analytics. Aggregate measurement of which pages are read and roughly where readers are, so effort goes to pages people use. This is not used to build a profile of you personally.
• Advertising. Third-party ad partners, including Google, may set cookies or similar identifiers to choose which ads you see and to limit repeats.
• Email, only if you give it. If you subscribe, your address is stored for that purpose and nothing else.
• What you send. If you email, that message and your address are kept so the conversation can be had.

Advertising cookies, and switching them off

Third-party vendors, Google included, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other sites. Google's use of advertising cookies lets it and its partners serve ads to you based on your visit to this site or others.

You can turn personalised advertising off at Google Ads Settings, and opt out of many other vendors at aboutads.info/choices or youronlinechoices.com. Turning it off means fewer relevant ads, not fewer ads.

Your browser's own settings can block or clear cookies for this site at any time. The tools will still work; they do not need cookies.

Affiliate links

Some outbound links to retailers are affiliate links, which means the retailer can tell the visit came from here, usually through a cookie they set. What happens on their site is governed by their privacy policy, not this one. See the disclosure page for how that works.

What is never done

• Your email address is not sold, rented or passed to anyone for their own marketing.
• No attempt is made to identify you personally from analytics.
• No special-category data — health, beliefs, anything of that kind — is collected, because this is a site about graphics cards.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can email hello@wiigenconsole.com and ask what is held about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted, and it will be done.

If you are in the UK or EU, the UK GDPR and GDPR give you those rights explicitly, along with the right to object to processing and to complain to your data protection authority. The lawful bases relied on here are legitimate interest for logs and analytics, and consent for the newsletter and for advertising cookies where consent is required.

If you are in California, the CCPA gives you the right to know what is collected, to have it deleted, and to opt out of its sale. Nothing is sold, but the same address handles any request.

Unsubscribing from the newsletter takes one click on the link in any email, and removal is immediate.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect anything from them. If you believe a child has sent personal information here, email the address above and it will be deleted.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes get a note on the homepage rather than a silent edit.
